Ohara Kōson was one of the names used by the artist, a painter and woodblock print designer, born in Kanazawa, northern Japan, who took up art in 1889. Famous as a master of kachō-e (‘bird-and-flower’) designs, he produced hundreds of designs, under three different titles: Ohara Hōson, Ohara Shōson, and Ohara Kōson.
